Bhutanese Society of Nelson

‘This project attempts to produce short documentary of elderly members of the Bhutanese Society of Nelson. It will include close interview questions to more than 15 elderly members who are all about 65 years old. The film will explore their status - before coming to Nelson, New Zealand as former Bhutanese refugees, how they have gone through and what's their present situation and what they want or expect from the community in order to reduce their status of isolation, dislocation adhering to their tradition and culture. The language used will be their first language i.e. Nepali in this documentary film and will have English subtitles on the it.

This project will help us exploring the situation of our community elderly members and will be archived in our community which will become important asset in future to the community’ - Bhoj Raj Subba
